Life can be overwhelming, when feelings and emotions are more than we can handle on our own, help and support is available. Whether you or your loved ones have experienced trauma or simply tough times individual counseling can help life feel manageable again,
I have worked with children and adolescents as a social worker and clinician in both school and community settings. I specialize in complex, complicated trauma and managing difficult behaviors. Whether youth are ready to process trauma or simply learn day to day strategies in managing challenges I enjoy finding creative collaborative solutions. For parents and guardians struggling to make sense of often befuddling (or even aggravating) behaviors in youth, I value team work and collaboration with families as well as to serve as another source of support.
Additional specialties and areas of interests include youth with defiant, antisocial behaviors , and those involved with the juvenile justice system. As well as youth and families that are new to the country, adjusting to life in the United States, navigating a prolonged separation, processing detention or deportation and immigration related stress.
The root of my work began with adult torture and trauma survivors. I enjoy the opportunity to accompany adults sorting through and processing their own trauma experiences.
Depending on a clients needs I draw from eclectic therapy techniques including EMDR (in English or Spanish), Sand Tray Therapy, TF-CBT, AAT (animal assisted therapy) as well as elements of bibliotherapy and horticulture therapy.
Therapy can be done virtually, in an office setting or in the home*
